LESPA Support Staff Positions

Aide Positions

Central Business Office Receptionist/Accounts Payable Clerk - 12-month full time position. This position is responsible for general receptionist duties as well as tasks related to accounts payable/receivable activities. The successful candidate must be able to provide exemplary customer service, be able to multi-task, function independently and have a good understanding of basic math and accounting practices. Other duties may be assigned. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. LES Aide (LES12) - 6 hours per school day. At-Risk 4 hours per school day and general student supervision 2 hours per school day. Duties include working with students in grades Kindergarten - 2 and staff to plan and facilitate literacy interventions. Requires a knowledge of or training in effective literacy instruction and assessments. Must be highly qualified. Student supervision may include in/outdoor recess, lunch time, before/after school and office coverage. Other duties as assigned by the school principal. OJ DeJonge Student Aide (OJ31) - 6 hours special education 1:1 student aide. Must be Highly Qualified and CPI trained. Ludington High School Student Aide (LHS42) - 6 hours special education aide. This position entails working with a student receiving special education services in a 1:1 capacity assisting with academics and providing sensory breaks. LHS Student Success Coordinator

This position works directly with students to improve academics, attendance, and minor behaviors. Duties include supervising students during school and at after-school activities, supervision of detention and in-school suspension, tutoring, monitoring student progress, and communicating with parents. Preference to candidates with experience working in a school environment.

District Substitute Teacher Posting

This position will serve as a substitute teacher across the district and will report on a daily basis regardless of whether there are substitute openings available. The successful candidate must be Michigan Teacher Certified and Highly Qualified with BA (English) or BX (Language Arts) and/or DX (Science) or DI (Integrated Science) endorsements.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate learning for middle level students.
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction and engage students in the learning process.
  • Establish classroom structure that values positive relationships through intentional implementation of the district curriculum and support the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports system.
  • Support non-academic needs through the student support network district system of all students in order to remove barriers that interfere with academic success.
  • Exhibit an ability to work within the Professional Learning Communities method of curriculum development.
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and needs.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.

Additional Qualifications: Qualified candidate should skillfully demonstrate the following competencies:

  • The strong desire to achieve outstanding results in a short amount of time;
  • The strong desire and ability to build meaningful, caring relationships with students in order to exert academic press and influence;
  • The skill and willingness to leverage the student support network to ensure that students’ social, emotional, nutritional and health needs are addressed;
  • The ability to collaboratively create and execute clear, logical instructional plans that produce strong results in student learning;
  • The capacity to rigorously create and sustain a well- orchestrated system of on-going data collection and analysis to inform a continuously responsive and adaptive system of tiered instruction attentive to student’s specific academic needs;
  • The capacity to align curriculum, instruction and assessments while responding to individual needs of students;
  • The ability to seek out knowledgeable peers, coaches or administrators for instructional support in the never- ending quest to deliver the vision of high quality subject- specific instruction in every class period of every day.

Substitute Bus Driver Opportunities

Ludington Area Schools is looking to hire part-time bus drivers. This position starts at $18.58 per hour with summers off, no nights, weekends, or holidays. This is a perfect job for a semi-retired person, a stay-at-home parent, someone needing a little extra cash, etc. We provide paid training and help the new hire obtain a CDL-B driver's license.
